In collaboration with the Royal College of Music for the third consecutive year and inspired by the unique charm of Kew’s lush spring landscape and the world-renowned magnolia and cherry blossoms, my music was installed in one of the key blossom hotspots, playing continuously during visiting open hours. The festival reached 18,000 people in its opening weekend, with an estimated 100,000 by the end of the run.
I am very delighted to have been a part of so many people’s experiences of a truly spectacular event, watching the garden blossom and come alive for spring.
The process was an invaluable experience, both creatively and professionally. With my piece, I set out to blend moments of rest and resurgence as spring awakens the garden. Using breath and layered textures from the flute and violin, I hope to uplift the rich sounds of nature, creating a space that encourages listeners to reconnect with their surroundings with fresh curiosity and a sense of wonder.
The work will soon be released here. looking forward to sharing it with people who were unable to come and listen. I thoroughly enjoyed writing for this medium; it was both exciting and fun, and I look forward to having the opportunity to do so again in the future.
